About the Role
The Sales Director is accountable for the overall commercial, operational, and strategic performance of a designated business unit. Operating with full P&L responsibility, this role leads a cross-functional team to achieve sales, customer, and financial objectives while aligning with MG Motor’s broader corporate goals.
Key Responsibilities
Business Strategy & Planning
Define and execute the strategic roadmap for the assigned business unit.
Translate organisational goals into annual operating plans and KPIs.
Lead business reviews and provide strategic insights to the CEO and executive team.
Conduct competitor benchmarking and market scanning to inform planning and decision-making.
P&L Ownership & Financial Management
Hold full accountability for revenue, margin, cost control, and profitability.
Manage and monitor performance against budgets, forecasts, and growth targets.
Approve major investments, pricing, and dealer incentive structures within the allocated budget.
Partner with Finance to ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and risk management.
Sales & Channel Management
Set and monitor sales performance targets in collaboration with Sales teams.
Oversee deployment of sales strategies across dealer networks and fleet segments.
Manage relationships with key national and regional dealer partners.
Lead demand forecasting and work closely with Supply Chain on allocation planning.
Marketing & Product Strategy
Partner with the Marketing Team on the development and execution of the marketing plan.
Provide commercial input into product positioning, pricing, lifecycle planning, and launch strategies.
Align with the Marketing Director on communications, sponsorships, and events to maximise brand impact.
People Leadership & Cross-Functional Coordination
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing, accountable business unit team.
Foster a culture of collaboration, performance, and continuous improvement.
Define clear role expectations, KPIs, and succession plans for direct reports.
Collaborate with Aftersales, Network Development, Logistics, Finance, and HR to deliver cohesive business outcomes.
Represent the business unit in executive governance forums and strategic planning sessions
About You
You are a commercially driven leader with a strong track record of delivering growth in the automotive or related sectors who brings:
10+ years’ experience in sales, commercial or business leadership roles in an OEM environment
Proven success managing full P&L and leading high-performing cross-functional teams
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to drive strategy, analyse performance, and make data-led decisions
Deep understanding of sales forecasting, dealer/channel management, and product lifecycle planning
Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and decision-making skills
A proactive, collaborative mindset with high integrity and resilience
A bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, or a related field
