Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Remarketing Manager to lead end-to-end used vehicle remarketing and buyback activities. This role is critical in ensuring buyback decisions are commercially sound, risk-controlled and compliant, while maximising recovery outcomes and minimising residual value exposure for the business. You will bring strong market knowledge, sharp commercial judgement and hands-on experience across valuation, buyback assessment and vehicle disposal through auction and wholesale channels.
Key Responsibilities
Used Vehicle Valuation & Market Pricing
Conduct accurate, independent valuations for buyback, fleet exit and dispute resolution.
Monitor Australian used vehicle market trends, auction results and wholesale pricing benchmarks.
Maintain valuation assumptions and pricing methodologies aligned with market conditions.
Provide clear, defensible valuation recommendations to Finance, Legal and senior management.
Buyback Feasibility & Commercial Assessment
Assess the commercial viability of buyback cases, including estimated resale or auction value, reconditioning, logistics and disposal costs and net recovery outcomes
Prepare buyback feasibility assessments and Go/No-Go recommendations.
Support Finance and Legal teams on buyback decisions arising from customer complaints, disputes or legal matters.
Ensure all buyback decisions are supported by documented financial rationale.
Remarketing & Auction Management
Manage the disposal of buyback and fleet return vehicles via approved auction and wholesale channels (e.g. Manheim, Pickles).
Oversee vehicle preparation, listing, auction pricing and settlement.
Monitor auction performance, clearance rates and recovery outcomes.
Identify opportunities to improve recovery value and reduce disposal cycle times.
Supplier & Channel Management
Manage relationships with auction houses, logistics providers and vehicle preparation suppliers.
Review supplier performance, fees and service standards.
Ensure compliance with internal procurement, financial and audit requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting
Work closely with Finance, Legal, Aftersales, Fleet and Network teams.
Prepare regular reporting on buyback volumes, recovery outcomes and remarketing efficiency.
Support internal and HQ reporting related to residual value and buyback exposure.
Skills & Experience
5+ years’ experience in used vehicle remarketing, fleet management, leasing, auction or residual value roles.
Strong understanding of the Australian used vehicle and auction market.
Proven experience in vehicle valuation and commercial assessment.
Strong analytical capability and sound commercial judgement.
Ability to work independently and make objective, evidence-based recommendations.
Experience within a leasing company, fleet operator, OEM or major auction house is highly desirable
Exposure to buyback, dispute or legally driven vehicle disposal.
Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
